Free electrical cable calculators for engineers

ECAS is a free, browser-based suite of electrical engineering calculators. Size cables by voltage drop and current carrying capacity, check derating and fault current, and work out conduit and cable tray sizes — all in one place, with no software to install. It runs entirely in your browser, so your project data stays on your device.

Each calculator mirrors the workflow of practising electrical engineers: build a distribution network from the main switchboard down to individual loads, apply installation derating factors, and produce clear cable schedules and printable reports. Copper and aluminium conductors are both supported.

Calculations are based on the Australian/New Zealand standards AS/NZS 3008 (Selection of cables — current-carrying capacity, voltage drop and derating) and AS/NZS 3000 (the Wiring Rules), so the cable sizing, voltage-drop limits and earthing checks follow the methods Australian and New Zealand electrical engineers work to every day.

Results are for guidance only and must be verified by a qualified person against the relevant standards (including AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 3008).
